Straws anyone?

Beatles fans have always grasped at straws with "hidden messages". Some of the "Paul is dead" stuff is really interesting, but some is just rubbish that people read way too much into.

Here we go again. Apparently if you play a track from Paul's new FIREMAN album (the track is "Don't Stop Running") you get a message saying "'Warmer than the sun, cooler than the air". People are saying that is a jab at Heather.

Um...reaching much?

Paul's publicist said is trying to calm such rumors.

Beatles guru dies

The Maharishi, the Beatles guru who John disowned, died in his sleep. Shame. Was he a fraud or did John just overreact as some thought? Doesn't matter in the end. I hope he has found peace.

Break!

I am going on vacation early tomorrow morning so no new podcasts or blog posts (well maybe a few) for about a week! Peace out and happy holidays!

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Photoshoppers.

Apparently a singer an up and coming Belarusian singer has some a fake photo with Paul McCartney floating around. Her publicist says it's real, Paul's says it's a fake.

Oh boy.

The real 5th Beatle

Pete Best recently told another tale of the Beatles wild days in Hamburg. Apparently George Harrison once threw up (not surprising after hearing all the stories of their conditions) and everyone refused to clean it up. People would add random odd things to the mess and it was referred to as a member of the group dubbed "The Thing". It lasted for about two weeks until the owner of their hostel cleaned it up, but not before the band had a funeral.

Sean Lennon record label

Just like dear old daddy, Sean is starting a record label.

The website linked doesn't say much because I wasn't able to get it in English, but I am sure more info will come soon.

I noticed his ex Yuka Honda is on the label. The appears to be some sort of project revisiting the Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band album which is really whats interesting me...

Bigger than Jesus, more like bigger than God!

John claimed that the Beatles were bigger than Jesus. Well we all know how that ended up right?

Apparently a recent poll has suggested that Simon Cowell (you know, the mean guy from AMERICAN IDOL) is more famous than God.

.................WHAT???

Methinks there may be an error.

Got Yoko Ono

I was browsing through random Beatles stuff on the eBay and found a bumper sticker that said "Got Yoko Ono?" for a dollar. Free shipping too since it was also right here in Florida. I knew I had to have it. It was just such an odd and unexplainable piece of merchandise unlike any other I had seen.

Just what does it mean to have Yoko Ono anyway?

Thanksgiving

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday! I just got back from a last minute visit home in South Florida.

While there I read my new book about the Beatles cartoons . Very nice book about a subject I don't think any other book has exclusively focused on before. Informative and I learned a lot.

Once I got my copies of the cartoons, hopefully in the next few weeks, I think I will try and upload them on the website.

Yes.

You will be able to watch EVERY episode!

Rod Davis invites Paul McCartney, Julian and Sean Lennon to play with Quarrymen

The Rod Davis interview is now posted.

Interestingly enough he mentioned that it might be cool to have Paul McCartney sit in on bass for the reformed and touring Quarrymen. He extended an invitation which he added also applies to Julian and Sean Lennon. Would be awesome if this could happen!

iTunes stalling again

My dad just sent this article to me.

Apparently iTunes won't be releasing the Beatles tracks anytime soon. Not surprised. Don't hold your breath.

In other news got MCCARTNEY YEARS in the mail yesterday and have been enjoying it!

Happy 40th birthday WHITE ALBUM....or Beatles self titled as Eric says it is really called.

Oh and WITH THE BEATLES..

....and me.

Website has some updates too btw

Rod Davis

The interview was this morning. Went very well and I will be posting it sometime in the next few days.

He mentioned wanting Paul to sit in on bass for the reformed Quarrymen...or Julian. Either way could be interesting.

SURPRISE

I didn't say anything for months just in case something fell through. It's happened before.

After some planning and e-mails, I am very pleased to annouce that tommorow morning I will be recording an interview with Rod Davis, an original member of the Quarrymen.

Did you know the Quarrymen are still making music and touring?

Learn more when I post the interview after editing it. Look for it sometime this weekend!

Twilight

Tonight a big movie sensation "Twilight" opens. I've heard about the books are really popular. Harry Potter level popular. The movie looks to be big too. I am catching the midnight showing in less than 2 hours actually.

Why am I writing about this here?

Because an article recently said that this will be popularity of Beatles levels.

No.

Just no.

Over 40 years later we still have Beatles websites, tribute bands, and new biographies.

Do you really see this happening with Twilight?

I think it'll be good. But it isn't the Beatles!

Sources

Apparently "sources" say Olivia Harrison might not approve the release of "Carnival Of Light". I haven't heard anyone aside from Paul actually say anything and "sources" could be a hairdresser of a cousin speculating.

Either way, told you all not to get excited.

I've been really busy with my non-Beatle life and my non-Beatle job but things are settling in and I would like to do more with this blog. Yes, I know I've been saying that forever but I hope to not just be blowing smoke this time.

I was in New York this weekend and took my DVD's for my portable player to watch on the plane. I decided to rewatch "Across The Universe" because I haven't seen it since last year in the theatres. I also saw "Dewey Cox" which has some Beatle stuff in there, including Jack Black as Paul McCartney.

Reading material? My mother got me the new Phillip Norman bio on Lennon. Some good stuff and bad stuff in there. I'm still reading it and I will post my further thoughts on it later.

In the meantime post on Shabby you all!

Update

We now have a twitter account!

.........whatever that means!

RIP

Yahoo is closing it's music store and engine. Yahoo's default music store will now be Rhapsody. Bummer. I loved Yahoo Music for years. It had a great site, great system, awesome customizations and more.

Truth be told, I thought it was much better than iTunes. I used to use their "Unlimited" program and pay 15 dollars a month for unlimited mp3's. Sure, they would expire if you didn't pay the next month, but for 15 dollars I got as many as I wanted and could put them on my Zen mp3 player.

I don't like Rhapsody as much. I did their free trial and I wasn't too happy. Their music engine doesn't flow as well, many tracks lagged and skipped and it just wasn't as user friendly.

Well blow me down!

Myspace is going to be doing a free music from various labels streaming on their site!

Relevant link!

Yes, this includes the Beatles.

My reaction? Awesone I suppose, but we can get free Beatles music streaming at like 900 other sites, including Project Playlist.

At yet still no iTunes..

Web Designer

I had to let our last web designer go due to hacking and web sabatoge. Currently looking for a new one and e-mailing Craigslist ads.

Paul McCartney's visit to Israel is going well by all accounts. Many people predicted an assassination but it appears he'll get out alive. I'm honestly not all that enthused by the trip. Paul did Red Square and that was also a big deal and now it's this. I know I'm in the minority, and I understand it's a big deal for the country, but it just is not something I'm too excited about hence me not posting alot about it despite it being a big news piece.

Unpopular opinion, and I probably am wrong, but that's the way it goes.

New Phone

I fixed the problems we were having with the shows hotline. I apologize to those who have been leaving messages that I haven't been getting.

The new number for the show hotline is 206-350-7935!

GIVE US A CALL!

I must own this

I must have this.

According to Amazon.com ,

Product Features

  • Six custom pewter tokens including: The Walrus, Here Comes the Sun, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Strawberry, Octopus's Garden, and Rocky Raccoon
  • The familiar Monopoly game play allows Beatles fans to own and trade some of the greatest icons in Beatles history.
  • Traditional Houses & Hotels are renamed Listening Parties and Concerts

Sounds awesome!

This is why I love the Beatles.

Do we see Nirvana Monopoly? Oasis Lullabies For Kids?

The Beatles got merchandise for almost EVERY product!

Figures

I finally get around to updating the show, and the very next day my power gets shut off. Told you all I was having money problems! At least I picked yesterday to post the new shows!

Mamma Mia!

Well I was still awake so I figured I would knock off another show. It's been months so I figured I owed that much too you.

For those of you who want to brush up on the current news item, click here. In a nutshell, audio diares have surfaced with John recording the fact that he lusted after his mother.

Do I believe it? I'm not sure. It's not that unbelievable given other evidence that is out there. Paul also went on record saying he lusted after his mother (proof found in my latest podcast episode).

What are your thoughts on this?

Season 3 begins!

Podcast and the blog finally updated! You can go to our page hyperlinked here to see it. Or you can go to iTunes and subscribe.

Thanks to everyone who encourage me to come back and do this again. It's going to be four years in a little more than a month since Bertone Beatle Bonanza first hit the airwaves. It's been a bumpy but fun ride. Through it all, this has been a fun hobby. But that is just what it's been, a hobby. Real life always got in the way and so did my first jobs. The show suffered in the past, and I will be honest, will continue to suffer from that in the future.

The whole thing was funded by me with some help here and there. As a result of my financial situation I couldn't mantain the bandwidth, hosting fees and more. The economy has been bad for everyone, myself included.

I want to try and do this show somemore as it is my first love. Hopefully that will happen. We may have a new sponser which could save me some money, so stayed tuned!

Comments and e-mails the reason that I keep coming, so let's keep them coming!

Season 3

In the past I've kept blogs for this show and the Beatles before. I am trying something new with this one. Our technical producer Steve (hi Steve!) is redoing the website after I made a mess of it, and I want to incorporate a news blog about the show and the Beatles into the website. I'll give Steve and Eric (my new co-host) posting abilities as well.

This blog will have news about the show, Beatles and Beatle related people, album and book reviews, random musings and however it evolves.

I should probably come up with something fancier for the this first post but I'll do doing more later. Thanks for being there!
